LeonaLeona Louise Lewis, born 3 April 1985 is an actor musician, activist, and singer born in Britain. Born and raised in the London Borough of Islington, she studied at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology located in Croydon. Lewis was recognized as a national talent by winning the third season of The X Factor in 2006 which resulted in the PS1 million recording deal in partnership with Syco Music. Her winning song, the cover version of Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This" was a top-charting number one for 4 weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke a world record by reaching 100,000 digital downloads in only 30 minutes. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5-album deal in February. Lewis's success continued with the announcement of her first studio album, Spirit (2007), which was certified 10x platinum in the UK and was the fourth most-sold album of the decade and among the best-selling albums in UK chart the history of chart. According to the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the most-sold debut album of female artists in the 21st century. Its first single, "Bleeding Love", was a seven-week standout at number 1 in the UK and was the most-sold single of 2007. The track was also the top-selling single in the US that year. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award the next year. In 2009 she released her sophomore studio album, Echo and also recorded the song that served as the soundtrack, "I See You", for the film Avatar. In 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide" in collaboration in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii and also her first extended performance, Hurt: The EP. Glassheart (2012) was her third studio album. Her inspiration came from dubstep and electronic music. When she was on the Glassheart Tour in 2013, she began writing material for her first Christmas album. The following year, her Christmas with Love with Love, featuring her lead single "One more sleep" was ranked third across the UK. With this chart entry, Lewis made history as the only British single female to break into the top 5 with eight singles, surpassing Olivia Newton-John's record set by seven.
